Dr. M.A. Aina  assumed office as the Head of the Department of Vocational and Technical Education, Ekiti State University, in August 2026. A dedicated scholar, researcher, and educator, he is committed to promoting academic excellence, innovative research, and quality professional training while providing visionary leadership that advances the Department’s teaching, research, and community service.

Brief History of the Department

The Department of Vocational and Technical Education was carved out of the defunct curriculum studies and Educational Foundation and Management, Faculty of Education in August 2015. The Department runs programmes leading to the award of B.Sc.(Ed.), B.Sc. (Tech.Ed.) and B.LIS and B.Ed. in Agricultural Science Education, Business Education (with options in Accounting, Marketing and Office Technology Management), Electrical/Electronic Technology, Building/Woodwork Technology, Mechanical Technology, Library & Information Science and Educational Technology respectively.

Three other courses namely; Fine and Applied Arts, Music and Home Economics that were approved as integral part of undergraduate courses in the Department at inception will take off as soon as personnel and equipment needed for their smooth running are adequately available. All the courses run by the Department are fully accredited.

From the take-off plan the department progressed under the successive leadership of Prof. A.A. Owojori (2015-2017), Prof. G.B. Olowoyeye (2017-2019), Dr J. O. Oke (2019- 2021), Dr E. O. Adepoju (2021-2023) and Prof. I. P. Ogundola (2023-till Date).
